Little Big Suprises

Trys is very much into Minecraft. She likes playing it (to the best of her ability), watching other people play on YouTube, and most recently listening to Minecraft songs. And I do not mean just the soundtrack from the game or Story Mode show, I mean song other people have made about Minecraft. She has been requesting I play songs by an artist named Dan Bull. He makes rap songs about different Minecraft characters. I actually really enjoy his songs as well. We are way beyond the baby shark years and I am so glad. The other day on our way to school, the car was quiet. Most days we have music on or Trys’s tablet is playing something, but on this rare occasion we were just driving along in silence. Suddenly, Trys breaks out in song. Not just any song, but a fast paced Dan Bull Minecraft rap. And she is getting all the lyrics correct, on time, with the proper melody and no guide to sing along to. Xayden and my eyes connect momentarily (via rearview mirror) in disbelieve with our mouths hanging open. Trys was barely verbal at the beginning of this school year (8 months ago) so we were processing what was happening but remained quiet, enjoying the show.

One of the many cool things about having an autistic child is that they will often surprise you. From non-verbal to rapping, why not?
